Western Sydney Vets

Posted on: 21 June

Dear Members,

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  I am trying to encourage Veteran Golfers to actively participate in Veteran golfing events in this region, across the state and Australia.

Most locations across the nation (and overseas) hold veteran golfing events of one description or another that are immensely popular and highly competitive.

Most clubs in NSW have a dedicated weekly Veteran event, as well as weeks of golf in various parts of the State/Country, which are great for play and stay opportunities.

A Veteran golfer is someone over the age of 50 for females and 55 for males. They must have a current G.A. Handicap, a member of a Veteran Golf Association and a member of an affiliated Golf Club (membership fee is $5).

Stonecutters Ridge GC is affiliated with Western Sydney Veteran Golf Association (WSVGA). Other clubs that are affiliated with WSVGA include Penrith, Springwood, Leonay, Glenmore Park, Dunheved and Richmond.

All of the above clubs have various challenges, characteristics and degrees of difficulty for any golfer regardless of age, ability or handicap. The events are very popular with an average of 144 players at each monthly event.

We also hold an interclub challenge (we are not going real flash in this hence this plea for help) and host the NSW Veteran Stroke play event over 54 holes at Richmond, Dunheved and Stonecutters.

We all come together in the spirit of friendship and camaraderie through our love of this sport. All this golf for $15 a game, with lunch available usually from $15 and substantially discounted cart hire.

Please click on the link Western Sydney Vets Golf (wsvetsgolf.com) to find out more about events, playing dates, individual and club results and calendars of events for other Regional Associations.

If you would like to know more, please don’t hesitate to contact me on Bellis10@live.com.au about joining.

Our next event will be at Dunheved on Tuesday 20th July 2021 – there will be more information to follow for this event.
