Men’s Foursomes, Round 1 Report

The Men’s Foursomes Championship commenced of Saturday the 18th of June. The Championship is decided over 36 holes with the title going to the best 36 hole scratch total. Prizes are also awarded for nett in each grade. Prizes for the 2 Foursomes events of the day are determined as normal with the major prize being the nett. Grade separations are determined at the completion of round 1 to ensure an equality of competitors in each grade. With 79 pairings entering round 1, A and B Grades comprise of 26 pairings each, whilst C Grade comprises of 27 pairings. Members are advised that the leader boards showing on the leader board section of the members portal do not include correct grade separations. Please refer to PDFs below for grade standings.

With round 1 complete, our A Grade leaders are Darcy and Ashley McKay (76), followed on 79 by Steve and Craig Baird, and Alex Lombardo and Jacob Carpenter. Steve and Craig (72) lead the nett on a countback from Alex and Jacob, with Ian O’Neil and Graeme Scott close behind on 73.5.

B Grade is led by Steve Tuckwell and Bob McIntrye (86), they lead by 2 from Joven and Bernie Balagtas (88), with Damien Hinzman and David Harper (91) a further 3 shots back. Steve and Bob (70.5) currently lead the nett from Joven and Bernie (72) and Gary Pilling and Bill Ghioni (74).

Bob Day and Brian Soulsby (91) lead C Grade by 4 shots from Roger Crinion and Paul Hughes (95) and David and Luke Perkin (97). Bob and Brian (71.5) hold a commanding 4 shot lead in the nett over David and Luke and Roger and Paul, both pairings on 75.5.

As we all know anything can happen in foursomes, so whilst the leaders in each grade lead by a number of shots, there is plenty of time for the challengers to catch up. Good luck to all competitors for round 2 on 25 June.
