JNJG Junior Championships

Posted on: 14 July

This year the JNJG Junior Championships were held at the Byron Bay Golf Club and Ocean Shores Golf Club.

Several of our Juniors headed up hoping for dry weather to complete their 4 rounds. Unfortunately 1 round was played in rain, 1 round had to be cancelled and the other 2 rounds were played in perfect sunshine!

After 2 rounds, those above the cut continued in the Championships, below the cut played for the plate. The only junior that made the cut was Kade and he came T8th overall with scores of +2, E and +3.

Congratulations to Kade for coming in the top 10 out of 155 players.

The other boys Ryan, Cooper, Darcy and Zayne played for the plate since they missed the cut.

Ryan managed a comeback after scores of +10, +9 with a +3 to win Age 17 scratch.

Cooper had a great 3 rounds playing to his handicap and came in with a Nett Even to come Runner Up in the Age 15.

Darcy and Zayne were disappointed not to achieve a place but they played well and with determination, unfortunately it was not their week.

We also had 3 girls Annoushka, Michelle and Ruby playing in the Girls Championships. Again it was not their week but great determination and a great experience.

Kade and Michelle then stayed for an additional few days to play in the Ballina Junior Masters.

Michelle had rounds of 82 and 77 but even with a great final day she unfortunately missed out on a placing.

Kade had 2 great days with 70 and 72 giving him a Scratch 2nd Place overall win.

This was also Kade’s final competition with Jack Newton Junior Golf.  He has had an amazing 10 years competing in the junior sector going from strength to strength. He is one of the top junior golfers in NSW and we can’t wait to see him achieve his future dreams.
