Warren Pennants Quarter Final Result

Posted on: 20 August

Sunday 8th September Warren played their Quarter Final Match Vs Moore Park

At Campbelltown Golf course.

In all my years with Pennants I can’t recall  an unlucky way to lose a contest specially seeing how this loss knocked us out of this year’s competition.

Every single match was as close as I’ve ever seen ,more fitting for a Final not Quarter-Final.

At the turn Jamie/Russell  – square  , Nic/Andy 2up , Dave/Stewart – square.

Jamie/Russell got to 2up playing 16th ,a missed opportunely saw the boys hold on to  be 1up after 17 and headed down 18 only needing to half hole.

All four player were safely over the water at Campbelltown’s hardest hole.

Jamie putted 1st hitting the flag which would have won them the game ,it finished inches from hole certain par! Russell chipped on also finishing close for certain par.

Opponent from Moore Park stepped up and canned a 7-meter putt ,forcing boys to head up the 19th.

At the same time Dave/Stewart had just finished playing 16th (I think we hate this hole boys)

Stewart also missed his birdie putt which would have seen the guy’s head to the 17th 1up ,putting the pressure on Moore Park. They had the luck of the Irish which most of them were by the way. They had an unlikely up and down to go 1 up now putting all the heat on Dave & Stewart to win the last and send it down 19 ,If it wasn’t for dog scaring the living daylights as Dave as he attempted his shot across the water ,Moore Park held on to win the hole going 1 up.

Previous to this Nic/Andy held on in win their game 1up ,still tense on the last as opponent came with millimetres of taking their game up 19 ,well played boys.

Both teams now had One game each in the bag ,it all came down to Match just finishing on the 19th ,another great putt from Moore Park and ours just sliding pass saw Moore Park win the day,

I want to Thank all the Warren boys who took part in this year’s Warren Trophy true whole team effort ,if not for the Luck of the Irish ,but some luck falling our way ,what could have been hey boys ! You will hopefully learn from today and come out harden Pennant Players.

Well done to Moore Park ,  all three games played in fantastic spirit.

Cheers  “D”  – Danny
