MEN’S MAJOR METROPOLITAN PENNANTS 2023
All A Grade members please take note of the following information in regards to 2023 Men’s Major Metropolitan Pennant Selection.
We welcome and encourage all members who would like to be considered for selection to participate and enjoy the experience of competing for a spot in our major men’s representative golf team.
The primary characteristics required by players for success are determination, contribution, respect and honesty.
We play 6 games in the normal season, 3 of which are away from home, so if you play exclusively or even predominantly at Stonecutters take special note of the first criteria in regard to Vardon events.
The selection criteria for the preliminary squad for 2023 will be based on the following:
- MINIMUM 3 Vardon Events from June/July 2022 until the start of the Club Championships (See current scheduled list below)
- SCR Club Championships – October 2022
- Recent interclub match play performance (Majors, Eric Apperly, Matchplay Championship and Junior Pennants)
- Performance in preliminary squad match play trials
- Performance in past pennant competitions
- Handicap
2022 Vardon Events
- Jun 26 – Muirfield Open Amateur
- Jul 10 – Wollongong Open
- Aug 13 – Strathfield Bowl
- Aug 20 – Cumberland Cup
- Sep 03 – Penrith Open Amateur
- Sep 11 – Manly Cup
- Sep 17 – Cabramatta Cup
- Sep 18 – Killara Cup
- Sep 24 – Liverpool Cup / Northbridge Cup
- Oct 01 – Richmond Cup
- Oct 02 – Cronulla Cup
- Oct 03 – Twin Creeks Cup
A preliminary squad will be determined by Men’s Golf and announced at the end of October, with the final squad to be announced in early December.
During December and January, the squad will be expected to prepare for the Major’s season ahead with a series of rounds played at section rival club venues along with regular inter-team match play and scheduled practice sessions.
Section matches commence late January/early February 2023, through to mid March 2023 followed by Semi Final and Relegation matches.
