2022 Men’s Club Championships

THE WRAP UP

The final round of the Championships was played on 5 November. Our 2022 Men’s Club Champion is Kade Webber. Kade maintained his lead throughout round 4, although it was narrowed to 1 shot after 11 holes. Kade prevailed with a 4-round total of 292. (8 over). Darcy Mackay was his closest rival finishing 2 shots back on 294, with Ryan Cadle (296) a further 2 shots back. The A Grade net was dominated by Mark Graham (274) who completed a comfortable 8 shot win from Matthew Tolhurst.

Our B Grade Champion is Mark Webber (341) who won by 1 shot from Nicholas Vlismas (342), with Zayne Meinke (348) a further 6 shots back. With Nicholas out of the running for the net due to his runner up position in the gross, the net went to Zayne Meinke (292) on a countback from another junior, Jackson Northey.

The C Grade Champion is Ted Ramos (289) who won a closely fought contest from Arthur Sta. Barbara (290). Darren Tait finished third on 392, but due to Ted and Arthur being ineligible for the nett, Darren picked up the nett with 292 with Stuart Coventry (296) a further 4 shots back.

Todd Ostler (302) picked up the Senior event, whilst Darcy Mackay won the Junior Championship with his 294 total.

The seeding of the final groups at the end of the field appeared to be a popular decision with a significant number of members out supporting the leaders over the back 9.

Congratulations to our winners who will receive their prizes on Presentation Night.

Round 3 Report

Fine weather and moderate winds greeted competitors on “moving day”. For some this was a move forward and into contention. To others the move was unfortunately in the other direction.

A Grade

In the Championship, Kade Webber (72) has moved into the lead on 217. Kade has displayed great consistency over the three rounds and a repeat of that consistency in round 4 will make things very difficult for the chasers. Kade holds a 5 shot lead from Ryan Cadle (222). Matthew Tolhurst and Darcy Mackay are a shot further back on 223. Apologies for missing Matthew in previous reports. Due to an administrative error, he was not included in championship leaderboards.

Mark Graham (203) leads the nett by 8 shots from Matthew (211), with Ryan Cadle (212) a further shot back.

B Grade

A shuffling of the deck has occurred in the B Grade Championship. Marc Webber, following an 86, leads on 255. Martin Morrissey and Nicholas Vlismas each stands a shot back on 256. Probably a race in 3 with the next best a further 7 shots back. Should be an interesting contest to determine a winner.

The nett is also a close contest with 5 players within six shots of the lead. Nicholas (214) leads from Jackson Northey (216)

C Grade

Graham Blackman’s 87 saw him move into the lead on 270. Ted Ramos (273) is his nearest competitor with Arthur Sta. Barbara a further shot back on 274. With the next best a further 5 shots behind Arthur it is hard to see the winner coming from anywhere but the top three. However round 4 brings with it some additional challenges so, who knows.

Graham and Ted along with Bruce Davidson lead the nett on 216, with Arthur a further shot back on 217.

Junior Championship

Darcy Mackay holds a considerable lead on 223 and has this division wrapped up. 38 shots should be enough.

Senior Championship

Todd Ostler (225) has an iron grip on this division, leading by 11 from Mark Graham.

B Grade

Nicholas Vlismas (84) continues to lead on 164, Bill Macintosh (85) is 3 shots back on 167. Martin Morrissey moved into 3rd on 168 with a 79 in round 3, Martin’s 79 was equalled by Marc Webber, which saw Mark move into 4th a further shot back. 175 on a countback is the cut off for the top 8. C Grade

Glenn Giles’s second straight 89 sees him leading on 178. Ted Ramos (179) is snapping at the heels 1 shot back. Arthur Sta. Ted leads the C Grade net by 1 from a chasing pack consisting of Gary Raab, Bruce Davidson, Kees Spoelder and Glenn.

Junior Championship (Under 18)

Darcy Mackay (143) holds a commanding 12 shot lead over Andrew Kneeves (155). Darcy will be tough to beat from his current position but there is still time for Andrew to make up ground.

Senior Championship (Over 50)

Todd Ostler (73) has moved into the lead on 151. Todd holds a 5 shot lead from Mark Graham on 156.
