Volunteer Group Update

Posted on: 24 April

Our volunteer group had their first working day on the course on the 20th March, where we start on the 2nd tee box.

It took the best part of 2 days to clean up this area, with an average of 8 workers starting at 7.30am and going through to midday.

Now one month into the program, we have finished the 2nd tee box, the 4th tee box and all but finished the 6th.

As well as this, the group have assisted with the turf laying around the new cart path to the 17th, as well clearing up other areas of the course surrounds.

In the coming weeks we will move onto new tee areas, repairing pot holes in some of the cart paths and working on other parts of the course.

Most of the work is done on Monday mornings, however we have a few volunteers who go out on Wednesdays or Fridays depending on what’s happening on the course those days.

The group works very closely with the course superintendent and greenies and we know they appreciate the work we are doing to help them present the course in the best possible condition they can.

Everyone that has been coming out to help, all look forward to returning the following week, and they really get a sense of achievement of what we are doing.

We are still looking for more volunteers, so if you have the time, and want to mix with fellow like minded members please email ceo@srgc.net.au and we can add you to the group.

The club supplies all working equipment and also provide lunch and a drink after we finish.

Here are some photos of the hard work below:
