Men’s Golf Revised Conditions of Play as 1 May 2024

Posted on: 2 May

Members are advised that the revised Conditions of Play effective from 1/5/24 are now available on the website. These conditions are applicable to all Men’s and Medley competitions.

You are encouraged to read the Conditions of Play. In cases where conditions of play are breached the appropriate sanction will be applied, ignorance is no defence.

The main changes in the updated version are as follows:

Matchplay Competitions

In all circumstances matches must be played at the time and date determined by the Golf Committee. Please ensure that before accepting your position in any match play event that you are available for all rounds.

Cancellation Process

Members are advised that when you book a position in a competition it is not yours to offer to others. If you cannot honour the booking and need to cancel and that vacancy should be filled from the waitlist. Jumping the waitlist queue is not fair to members on the waitlist. Swapping a player into your booking who already has a booking in the same competition can be processed by the pro shop or at Thursday evening booking in.

If you need to cancel from the booking sheet or waitlist, you must do so by 6pm the day prior to the competition. The waitlist will be cleared the evening before the competition. Player’s moving from the waitlist to the booking sheet on the evening before the competition are expected to be ready to play at the time allocated to them.

The Men’s Golf Committee is considering penalties for those that do not cancel by 6pm the day before the competition. Options include the payment of the competition fee by the member prior to them competing in any subsequent competition and/ or booking in restrictions being applied to the member.

Men’s Foursomes Championships

To better provide for an equivalence of competitors in each grade, grade separations will be determined after completion of the first round using daily handicaps or if necessary exact GA handicaps. This will mean that graded leaderboards will not be available until after the first round of the championship is completed.

Playoffs

Where a tie exists in a major competition a play-off will occur immediately after completion of the final round. It is the competitor’s responsibility to be at the club and ready to participate in any play-off if required. Terms for playoffs do differ depending on the event, so, read the event conditions in the Major Events section of the Conditions of Play.

Model Rule E.5

This optional local, made available in April to assist pace of play is included in the Conditions of Play.
