Encourage Shield Update

We’re off to the Sydney Metro Final!
Last Sunday, November 30th, our Stonecutters Ridge Encourage Shield team once again travelled across Sydney to face off against Castle Hill (White team) at Lakeside Camden Golf Club in the quarter finals of the Sydney Metro competition. This year’s team consists of Chase Farrell, Ruby Ison, Jacob Bartolome, Taylor Serafin, Luke Miller, Zoe Miller and Joel Miller.
With two holes to play, things were looking extremely tight. Jacob Bartolome and Taylor Serafin had posted comprehensive wins, while Zoe Miller and Chase Farrell had gone down in their matches, all the while fighting hard.
It all came down to Luke and Joel Miller. Both boys were up in their matches, with Joel’s opponent impressively fighting back to halve the match after being 2 down with 2 to play.
With two and a half wins secured, Stonecutters were in the driver’s seat, but only just!
Luke was 1 up with 2 to go in the final match on course, but a fabulous up and down on the par 3 17th was enough to seal the win in front of a large collective crowd of onlookers, taking us to a 3.5 to 2.5 victory!
Our juniors have been impressive not only for their play throughout the regular season and finals series, but also the immense sense of team pride and camaraderie they have displayed as representatives of our club. Another standout mention goes to Savannah Webb for taking on the role as assistant manager this year, giving up her Sundays for the past two months to guide and mentor our junior golfers. Also many thanks to Blake Dowd for his ongoing training and tuition of the squad as they hone their golfing and matchplay skills.
Next Sunday 7th December, the team will head to Concord Golf Club to take on Ryde Parramatta GC in the Sydney Metro Final. We welcome as many members as possible to come out to Concord to cheer the Stonecutters Ridge Blue Team on in their quest to be the first team to take out the Sydney Metro title since Junior Pennants and Encourage Shield were merged this year. Prior to this, our club last won the Junior Pennant in 2023 for the first time in our combined Ashlar/Stonecutters Ridge history.
