Juniors at Bathurst 2023

The weekend brought our yearly Bathurst trip for the JNJG Peter O’Malley Junior Masters.
This year we had 11 juniors attend;
Our boys were Jackson Northey, Bradley Ellis, Zayne Meincke, Cooper Ison, Aayush Verma, Darcy Mackay, Riley Cleminson and Jack Gillet.
Girls were Savannah Webb, Ruby Ison and Annoushka Maikap.
As always it was a packed weekend full of fun, laughter, golf and making memories.
Bathurst is a tricky course and with temperatures of 33° and 37° it was definitely a challenge for many. My challenge was to make sure they all stayed hydrated and my days were spent filling the esky with bottles of water and driving round and round and round the course!!!
Some great golf was played along with some upsets too but it was great to see them continually fighting. The scores did not always reflect their game but that’s the challenge of golf!!!
Darcy started the Saturday with determination and finished the day with a a fantastic score of -3 and leading the Boys Competition. Unfortunately Sunday did not go quite as well with a score of +2 but kept him in a tie for 2nd place in the Boys Championship and the 14-15 Boys age group. Congratulations Darcy!!!!
This was Jack’s first trip with SRGC and I’m sure it was the start of many more to come but sadly it was the last for both Jackson and Bradley who both turn 18 this year. Our Juniors are constantly evolving.
I would like to thank Brad Webb and Wendy Mackay who both made the trip with me as drivers, supporters and helped keep me sane.
