Matchplay Championship Update

Despite the somewhat catastrophic weather forecast the second round of qualification was completed
on Saturday the 29th of April. We were fortunate that we avoided the worst of the weather which
appeared to pass to the south of the golf course.
In A Grade Todd Ostler’s 68 saw him progress as number 1 seed with a 2-round total of 1 under, 141.
Craig Baird (142) and Kade Webber (142) fill seeds 2 and 3, with the top 4 rounded out by Daniel
Beattie (149)
Nicholas Vlismas (166) stormed to number 1 seed in B Grade on the back of a 77 in round 2. Paul Banis
(167) is the number 2 seed, with Craig Dainty (183) and Graham Blackman (184) completing the top 4
seeds.
C Grade saw Guy Battin (189) come from the clouds with an 88 in round 2 to take the seed 1 position.
Glenn Tahimic (192), Stephen Towell (195) and youngster Jack Gillett (196) fill seeds 2 through 4
respectively.
Whilst finishing high in the seeds does provide some advantages, in the end, it’s Matchplay and any
one of the 16 qualifiers in each grade has an opportunity to win the event. The time sheet for Saturday
has been populated with the first-round matches and the draws for each grade are below.
Competitors and a reminder that there are some specific rules for Matchplay and where a penalty in
stroke play is 2 shots, in Matchplay it is loss of hole. All competitors are encouraged to download the
Rules app from.randa.org and familiarise themselves prior to Saturday. Play will be from the blue
markers, without the benefit of handicap.
